Feng Shui Enhancements at Grand Hyatt Singapore

Grand Hyatt Singapore has undergone adjustments to its design, including repositioning lobby doors to a 313-degree angle and raising the fountain height to 1.35 meters. These updates honor traditional Feng Shui principles, ensuring prosperity and harmony for the hotel until 2043.

Regular guests and visitors to the Grand Hyatt Singapore may find that the hotel looks slightly different.

The water from the fountain is cascading from a higher point, for example. And the lobby doors (right) are not where they used to be.

The adjustments have been carried out to improve the hotel's fengshui.

Geomancy has been integral to the hotel's layout and design from the day it opened in 1972. This assimilation of local culture is part of the hotel's heritage, said its area vice-president and general manager Willi Martin.

To ensure good luck and prosperity for the hotel and its guests, three fountains were incorporated into the entrance, along with a four-storey waterfall to ensure positive energy flows through the hotel. A 32-step staircase to the mezzanine floor represents "business all the way."

However, as the celestial bodies are constantly in flux and re-aligning themselves, the fengshui design cannot be static.

The last design "expired" in 2003, so the recent small changes were made on the advice of fengshui master Victor Li to ensure the design will not need changing again until 2043.
